RT Group, Inc. (RTG) was retained by Walsh/PCL Joint Venture II to provide Professional Engineering Services for Contract B of the I-95 New Haven Crossing Corridor Improvement Project located in New Haven, Connecticut.

RTG designed and provided submittals for a Temporary Protective Barrier System to provide debris shielding over the Quinnipiac River during the demolition of the existing Q-Bridge.

RTG designed an innovative and unique flange bracket to allow for efficient installation and repetitive re-installation of the system as demolition progressed across the bridge. RTG also designed an outrigger system to meet the Contract requirement of shielding 2m (6.5 feet) beyond the edge of the deck. The system was designed to minimize deployment time and to be efficiently re-used throughout the sequenced demolition operations while meeting the load requirements of the Contract, OSHA, and ASCE.
