RT Group, Inc. (RTG) was retained by Southern New England Ship Building Company (SENESCO MARINE) to design a Plate Roll-Out Shelter to facilitate the construction of double-hulled fuel barges at their Quonset Point Facility.  The barges range from about 80,000 to 100,000 barrel capacity and weigh from about 3,000 to 4,000 tons.

Photo 2The Plate Roll-Out Shelter was needed to protect SENESCO personnel from the elements and increase productivity by allowing final plate/panel assembly to proceed without weather interruptions.

As part of this project, RTG completed soil borings within the footprint of the Shelter; prepared and submitted all permit applications (State of Rhode Island Building Permit, State Fire Marshall Approval, and QDC review); prepared plans and specifications for construction; and provided services during construction for this $200,000.00 project. The project was completed in July 2007 by Big Top Manufacturing, Inc. and Specialty Diving Services, Inc.
