Following the loss of the pier facility after a severe fire, RT Group, Inc. (RTG) was retained by Motiva Enterprises, LLC to assist in the South Berth Repair Project. RTG was given the task of designing a new pile supported platform structure for specialized equipment, a steel platform for the barge manifold valve access, a pile supported structure for a hydraulic gangway system, and all associated stairways.
Due to the urgent need to get the facility back on-line, RTG was responsible for not only the design of the components, but also provided the fabrication services. To expedite the fabrication process, RTG produced detailed shop drawings of all components and worked closely with a local steel fabricator to provide the finished product to the site in a timely fashion.
RTG also assisted Motiva and the Contractor with survey services throughout the entire Project. RTG provided and set horizontal and vertical control and layout for the pier reconstruction as well as land based components of the vapor recovery system.
