RT Group, Inc. (RTG) was retained by the Town of Narragansett (the Town) to provide engineering and design services, including permitting, for a flood proofing barrier at its Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) in Narragansett, Rhode Island. RTG was selected by the Town based on an Alternatives Evaluation Report prepared by RTG outlining potential flood proofing barriers for protecting the WWTF.

RTG was responsible for completing the engineering and design for the Town’s selected alternative, which consisted of a driven sheet pile wall with a landside earthen berm and waterside riprap scour protection. The design included performing analyses of the proposed barrier, designing the barrier to account for existing utilities, incorporating a new stormwater run-off treatment system, and preparing budget-level construction cost estimates.

In addition to the above, RTG was responsible for applying for the required local, state, and federal regulatory permits for the project. As a part of this, RTG also prepared a FEMA Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) Application in order to reclassify the FEMA flood zone in which the WWTF was located from a VE Zone to an X Zone.

Construction of the Project was recently completed, during which RTG provided Construction Phase Services including administrative and observation tasks.
